Government Polytechnic Kanda is situated in Bageshwar District of Uttarakhand, was established in 2006 under the aegis of Directorate, Technical Education. The college is affiliated to Directorate Of Technical Education, Srinagar(Garhwal). The institute has gained the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and is recognized by University Grant Commission of India, New Delhi.

Government Polytechnic Kanda began its journey as the first technical education institution in the district of Bageshwar imparting diploma in engineering in the year 2006. At present, the college has a well built prefabricated building with classrooms, library, workshops and laboratories etc. There is a hostel too with an accommodation for approximately 40 students coming from distant parts of the state. The campus of the college is stretched over an area of approximately 5 acres of land covered with pinewood; and an entire range of snow-clad Himalayas in the background endows it with an exotic and picturesque vision.
